Rules of the WWA Pro Card

  • Riders must obtain a Pro Card before riding in professional events.
    • How to obtain a pro card
      • The top 15 complete WWA Wakeboard World Ranking riders obtain a pro card the following year. (January 1st-December 31st)
      • The top 15 complete WWA Wake Park World Ranking riders obtain a pro card the following year. (January 1st-December 31st)
      • Past Champion Rule –Any past winner of the WWA Wakeboard World Championships, WWA Wakeboard National Championships, WWA Wakeboard World Series event, WWA Wake Park World Championships, WWA Wake Park National Championships or a WWA Wake Park World Series event.
      • At a WWA Pro Card qualifier event
        • One-off events set up for multiple riders to qualify a pro card
          • Riders have the right to ride at any pro card qualifying event at anytime without restriction of number of attempts in order to earn a Pro Card
        • WWA Wakeboard World Series Qualifier
          • Pro Card qualifying contests at each WWA Wakeboard World Series stop.
        • Select pro events may retain the right to host an open amateur qualification allowing the top 1 non-pro card holder to compete at the pro event.
          • Non-pro card riders will only obtain their pro card by a top 8 finish at a WWA Pro Contest.
        • All athletes must have WWA or appropriate WWA affiliate membership.
          • For Pro card to be valid, athlete must obtain a pro membership of the WWA
          • Pro Card holders will be able to upgrade from Annual WWA Amateur Membership to WWA Pro Membership
        • Once a pro card is obtained, the pro athlete has the option to compete in any WWA event regardless of the discipline of the event, i.e. Wake, Wake Park, Two Tower, etc.
        • Any athlete that obtains a pro card may only compete in the pro division.
        • Pro card does not grant qualification to all pro events, i.e. Masters Wakeboard Tournament
        • Athletes retain the right to reject a pro card.
          • Rejection of Pro Card will result in rider keeping amateur status.
        • Each rider’s status is annual (Date of acquiring pro card-December 31st)
          • Rider retains the right to move back to amateur the following year.
        • All pro card riders will appear on WWA World Rankings.
        • Select pro events may approve wildcards via the WWA’s approval.
        • Organizer reserves right to include athletes in pro division if the minimum entries are not meet.
      • All WWA Rules apply to the Pro Card and Pro Card Events
